This data set contains:
- 7 input files to generate the mechanical model based on the direct stiffness method of the specific structures, described in detail in the related publication.
- 2 Excel files for the color-coding of the 4 sample structures for post-processing of the different schemes (qualitative/quantitative), described in detail in the related publication.
- 8 csv files for the color-coding of 4 out of 7 structures for post-processing similar to the excel files.
Input files (.inp) for simulations to generate the different structure samples (Cylinder = Balken_RP11_S3_T_S2.inp, Cube = Balken_NZF_cube.inp, Star = Balken_star.inp, Lattice = Balken_lattice.inp) and components (Elytra = elytra_glass_er_4.inp, BUGA = buga_carbon_tol2cm.inp, Maison Fibre = maison_fibre_carbon_er.inp) for further simulation in MATLAB or, with minor adjustments, in other structural mechanics or FEA software/tools. The files are written in a machine-/engineer-readable format and define structural type, cross-sectional parameters, element connections, nodes, material properties, and boundary conditions. The mechanical model is based on the Direct-Stiffness-Method (DSM) for further calculations.
Excel files (.xlsx) provide color-coding to highlight elements/nodes based on sensor placement suggestions, either recommended (green) or not recommended (red) among others, for different evaluation schemes (quantitative = Plot Data_samples_quantitative.xlsx, qualitative = Plot Data_samples_qualitative.xlsx) at sample scale (each worksheet corresponds to one sample), as described in the related publication.
Additionally, Plot Data_samples_qualitative.xlsx contains a snapshot of the simulation model for each sample, including element numbering in magenta and node numbering in blue to establish a direct relationship with the color-coding. The Excel files are structured so they can also be accessed or imported into MATLAB (or any array-based programming language) as tables or matrices.
Furthermore, additional CSV files are provided for the structure samples Cube, Cylinder, Star, and Lattice, following the same naming convention and format: Plot Data_cube_qualitative.csv and Plot Data_cube_quantitative.csv, Plot Data_cylinder_qualitative.csv and Plot Data_cylinder_quantitative.csv, Plot Data_star_qualitative.csv and Plot Data_star_quantitative.csv, Plot Data_lattice_qualitative.csv and Plot Data_lattice_quantitative.csv.
These files contain the corresponding qualitative and quantitative data in a CSV format for direct use and import into MATLAB or other data-processing environments.
Further details about the interpretation of the data, as well as the methods used to use the data, can be found in the related publication.
